Dreading the Wonder Week
So I know that babies go through growth spurts and it may cause them to sleep more/less and eat more, but I just learned about Wonder Weeks. Wonder Weeks are apparently "8 developmental periods are described as difficult periods because babies often exhibit the 3 C’s: crying, crankiness, and clinginess" and judging from what I'm finding online, the 19 week "Wonder Week" is by far the worst of them. As in, the week starting July 20th in this house.
The development that goes on during this week is huge - "At around 19 weeks (or between 18 and 20 weeks), his ability to understand the world around him becomes far more developed and a little more like our own. Imagine: Suddenly the way you see the world has changed 100%. Everything you thought you knew is now different. It is as if you woke up on another planet. What would you do? Cry! That's how it is for your baby. With every one of his mental development leaps, his whole world turns inside out. He is scared, and you will notice that he cries more, is cranky and clingy. " (source)
For his one and two month growth spurts, Mason was about a week early. I hope for this growth spurt/wonder week, he sticks to the common 19 week marker and DOESN'T go a week early because that is P's week to work. Which means I'd be alone with a very unhappy baby for six days. Ugh. Then again, he's also getting his 4 month shots the DAY before his 19 week "birthday" so I have a feeling the second half of July his going to be hell either way.
And because I have to research everything thoroughly, you can BET I have a copy of The Wonder Weeks book on reserve through the library.

Just stopping by, thanks for visiting my lonely little blog. I just became a follower. Ah, to be young and a mother of one, I remember it well. You actually said it perfectly in your post:
And I quote,
'Imagine: Suddenly the way you see the world has changed 100%. Everything you thought you knew is now different. It is as if you woke up on another planet. What would you do? Cry!'
Sounds like motherhood to me. Welcome to the club.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am now following you back.
