2011 in Review
Another year has come and gone and everything they say about time flying when you have kids is 100% true.
Here's a look back at our year.
January

January was a huge month as far as stuff going on. Mason had earaches for quite some time and they finally cleared up. He finally started crawling, learned to pull up in his crib, turned 10 months old, learned to stand up in his crib, and really started eating more. The biggest thing of the month was him getting his plagiocephaly helmet.
February
We had two helmet appointments (both involving 5 hours in the car), Mason rode in a shopping cart for the first time, and visited urgent care for the first time. I started holding myself accountable for how much (or little) I read to Mason, something we need to start back up again. Mason lost his crackers and it being his last "first" holiday made me really sad. Tantrums started in full swing. Things made us smile.
March

Mason grew out of his bucket seat and got a new car seat. I changed my mind at the last minute about throwing him a birthday party. We decorated his helmet and he celebrated his first birthday with a party. We also celebrated one year of breastfeeding. I made a point to beat the daycare to the "first time in a swing" milestone. We went to the Children's Museum with Auntie Sarah and he had his 1 year checkup.
April
We got another (not so good news) helmet update and kept plugging along. Mason got to play with his cousins for the first time and started showing some walking readyness. He transitioned out of the nursery at daycare and went to his cousin Chloe's 2nd Birthday Party. He was obsessed with our remote and did his first finger painting. Despite just having a birthday, he turned another month older and faced a little sickness. We found an awesome indoor playground, celebrated Easter, and visited the Easter Bunny.
May
May was another big month of changes. Mason figured out climbing and spent a weekend alone with Daddy. While I was away, he learned to walk! He had another not-so-positive helmet update and made a really big mess eating. We celebrated Plagiocephaly Awareness Week and Mason turned into a toddler overnight. The month ended horribly when our beloved Daisy Doodles died.
June

June had us outdoors having fun as we voyaged out in the bike trailer, played at many playgrounds, and went to a few parades. He started really talking and we played a lot in his water table and tried out the kiddie pool. We took nightly walks and hung out with Buzz Kitty. He had a great helmet appointment and got his helmet off for good.
July
July was more fun in the sun as we hit the outdoor pool, celebrated the 4th of July, hung out with a golden retriever, and spent lots more time at playgrounds. He turned 16 months old and had his first ice cream cone!
August
August brought the official end of breastfeeding and a trip to the Minnesota Zoo. I started preparing for the big consignment sale and lots of friends celebrated a birthday. Mason had his first fast food and Grandma got kitties.
September
We had a nice Labor Day Weekend and then Mason got his first black eye. Mason said his first sentence and started hating baths. We went and saw Yo Gabba Gabba Live and had a blast! He turned 1.5 years old and started being a picky eater. A new pet supply store opened in the area, so we had to check it out.
October

We took a roadtrip to Duluth and I bemoaned the amount of artwork coming home from daycare. We went to the pumpkin patch and found a new free babysitter. Our beloved Buzz kitty died unexpectedly. We updated on what we'd been reading and Mason showed off his style. Mason shared his pet peeves and became obsessed with lights. We took another road trip to Minnesota and visited another pumpkin patch. We had a great time trick or treating.
November
We learned about a day in the life of Joe and wished Grandpa a Happy Birthday. We remembered to take 20 month pictures. We celebrated Thanksgiving and Mason got his first haircut trim and donned his first suit.
December
I admitted to being a word list failure and we decorated for Christmas. We got our pictures taken with Santa. We reflected on 6 months post helmet. We celebrated Christmas with lots of present opening and some tears.
What a year it has been! I bet next year will be even more of an adventure as this little boy continues to grow and change! Thank you so much for sharing this year with us!
This time last year - Christmas at Grandmas
